Maple lemonade is the perfect thirst quenching summertime drink. Sweetened with maple syrup rather than sugar, this lemonade is refreshingly tart with just the right amount of sweetness. The flavors of fresh squeezed lemon and pure maple syrup leave you unable to consider buying lemonade form a store again.
Lemonade is one of my favorite drinks pretty much any time of the year, as I love the combination of sweet and sour. I have always enjoyed the taste of real lemons. Even as a child I would get everyone to give me the slices of lemons from their water glasses at restaurants so I could suck the juice out of them. In the summertime during a heatwave though there is nothing better. I do not do well in the heat, and prefer the Spring or Fall, so a glass of fresh squeezed lemonade full of ice is one of the best things in the world!
Buying fresh lemonade is insanely expensive though. At the waterfront not far from my home there is a place that makes wonderful lemonade, but it is $5 a glass! Throw in a couple kids that also want a glass and you are spending more than I am willing do for drinks that have no booze in them.
This is why I started making lemonade at home. That and the fact that now I can get a cool refreshing drink without having to venture out into the hot heat. 5 Minutes in the kitchen and then I am laying in the shade in my backyard sipping on my own maple lemonade. The only things that makes this better is if there is a blueberry scone to go along.
Most homemade lemonade requires boiling water and sugar together so that the sugar will dissolve completely. This means both the unnecessary use of a stove on a hot day, and having to wait for the water to cool before being able to make the lemonade. This step is avoided by using maple syrup which easily mixes with the lemon juice and water. This means that within a few minutes of craving lemonade you can be sitting in the back yard in the shade sipping on a refreshing glass of it.
Add a shot of vodka and you have a hard lemonade that can’t be beat!
What You Will Need:
- 1 cup Lemon Juice (approx 4-5 lemons)
- ½ cup Maple Syrup
- 2½ cups Cold Water
How to Make Sweet Maple Lemonade:
Roll the lemons gently but firmly between your hand and the counter. This will loosen the insides and ensure that you get the most juice possible out of your lemons.
Cut lemons in half and squeeze by hand or use a juice machine.
Pour juice into your jug or juice container and add the maple syrup and water. Stir well, pour into tumblers with ice and cool off!
